After Effects CS2 is more commonly known as After Effects 7. The legacy 'renaming' of AE was done to keep all of Adobe's major product versions in line: ie Flash CS3; Photoshop CS3; and After Effects CS3 (technically the 8th version) I hope this helps :)

"Some time ago I was experimenting with doing more 3D stuff inside of After Effects and I ended up with two very cool techniques that will allow you to import any 3D object into After Effects. But thats not all. You will also be able to create very simple objects directly inside of After Effects. This techniques still need some work and will probably not be very practical in most cases, but still I think they are interesting as an experiment. The techniques involve some 3rd-party plugins, but not the ones you’d be expecting and probably the ones you already have. And the most exciting thing is that unlike my ShapeExtruder this will work also in After Effects CS2"
what is After Effects CS2?

Hehe! Thats nice. I know it works, but like pointed out above, it's a bit pointless right now to do things that way. But anyway I think it will show a different approach to things, and that is exactly what this site is about. Thanks for your input.

IT is odd that Adobe does not have a full on 3D PROGRAM, so if you suceed they should probably make you chairman of the board.

well you know, some body is gonna say that you 3d is no real 3d..... ect etc as they said with your shapeExtruder, but, this coments apart, for the people who don't know too much 3d and we don't want to use some kind of 3rd party plugins and render killers, this new option, may work, as you said before that allways depend from the project and many other things, but lets see that and lets play with so see what comes ot of our renders :)

that would be great...i was actualy working on a project not long ago where i wanted to create this 3d logo inside after efects but i found out that its not posible.

so i went to 3dsmax and did it there, exported then frames with alpha chanel, import into affx.

it would be interesting if ud be able to creaate in max and then import the scene or something..thw whole thing...that would be amazing

another nice thing would be this: i create a shape in ilustrator, or even affx and then import into scene, and extrude the thing in 3d and have it there.

that would be awsome
