Back to work!
Posted on 05. Nov, 2009 by Jerzy Drozda Jr.
Hello my friends. Sorry for the long absence. I had a lot of things on my mind lately, not to mention the fact that I was totally out of reach of any technology for the past two weeks – no internet, no cell phone, no nothing. But now I’m back.

Happy AfterEffecting – LIVE!
Posted on 11. Sep, 2009 by Jerzy Drozda Jr.
Thanks to your encouragement I’ve been thinking about running my own LIVE! show for quite some time now. Last Wednesday I thought it’s about time to finally do something about it, so I registered at UStream.tv and hosted the first episode of my show called “Happy AfterEffecting with Maltaannon“. It was simply a test broadcast to see how it works, what it feels like and what kind of responses I’ll get from you. To my surprise it was a total success, even though I announced it only on Twitter and Facebook 6 hours in advance, so I’d like to thank you all for being there.

Posted on 05. Sep, 2009 by Jerzy Drozda Jr.
After publishing Introduction to Pixel Bender tutorial where I showed you guys how to build a simple cropping plugin I got a lot of emails and comments asking specifically how to create certain types of parameters in Pixel Bender code that show up in After Effects as Angle Control, Checkbox and other UI elements, so I’ve decided to create this small list for you to help you out with this.

UV Mapping with Pixel Bender
Posted on 21. Jul, 2009 by Jerzy Drozda Jr.
Have you ever rendered out a sequence from any 3d application like Cinema 4D or 3D Studio Max and wanted to replace something in it after you rendered it out? It happened to me a couple of times. Not to mention that it would be super cool if you could blend you 3D objects better with your After Effects environment. There are tools to do that on the side of the 3D package, but what about After Effects? Shouldn’t we have a chance to change our minds and make changes inside our favorite compositing tool?

Voxel rendering in 3D Studio Max
Posted on 29. Jun, 2009 by Jerzy Drozda Jr.
Recently I got involved in a movie project – doing some post production, visual effects, and compositing. One part of the assigment is to create a “in game” world, that will look very modern and high quality, but kind of old school at the same time. And then it struck me: Voxels!

It was a long journey for both me and you my dear friends, but we are finally here – Maltaannon 2.0 is now online. If you look through the blog entries you’ll see that I’ve mentioned the new site quite often. Unfortunatelly I had so many things to do in the meantime that it took over a year to get here, but thanks to your support and feedback I finally found the strength to do it.

Layer Styles as presets
Posted on 03. Mar, 2009 by Jerzy Drozda Jr.
My friend asked me today is it possible to save Layer Styles as presets. Since I don’t work with Layer Styles much I didn’t know the answer, but I was surprised by the question. One could expect that it would be possible, just like with any other effects applied to the layer. Unfortunately it wasn’t so.

Separating RGB channels
Posted on 18. Feb, 2009 by Jerzy Drozda Jr.

We’ve all been through this. Creating channel separation effect by hand is a pain. You have to duplicate the layers and use channel mixer and blend modes to get what you want. Not anymore. Now with new After Effects CS4 we can script a simple Pixel Bender to do just that.

My dear dear friends. I have run into some problems with my workstation, data storage unit, not to mention financial problems due to the crisis. I lost all of the emails you sent me so far, and I can’t receive any new ones. If some of you require my help please use the Hotline in Chat mode – I remind you that chatting is free.
