More 3D stuff coming soon

Some time ago I was experimenting with doing more 3D stuff inside of After Effects and I ended up with two very cool techniques that will allow you to import any 3D object into After Effects. But thats not all. (more…)

Would you buy my book?

After starting up this website you’ve been asking me same questions: where did I get my skills, what book did I read to learn expressions and After Effects, and is there anything I could recommend? Since I’m self-taught I simply couldn’t recommend anything else than online resources that I’ve stumbled upon. (more…)

Photoshop brushes in After Effects

I’ve recently figured out a workaround to a problem that was bugging After Effects users since the beginning of time - how do one import Photoshop brushes into After Effects? Is it even possible? The answer is simple. No. It didn’t bother me that much until I wanted to use one of my brushes in After Effects. (more…)

CustomEffects Installer in progress

Some time ago I’ve mentioned that I plan to create a new CustomEffects Installer for Adobe AIR platform and I’m proud to announce that I almost finished it. The only thing left to do is to find few Mac users to test it. If everything goes well I’ll be releasing the first version in two or three weeks.

Wish me luck!

Yeah yeah… I know what you’re thinking. “Raid0? Are you crazy or something?”. I guess you already know the answer to that question. (more…)

Major f*ckup

Hello my friends. I’ve got bad news. Today my disk array crashed, over 2TB of data lost. I’m fighting to restore as much as I can, but It doesn’t look god. And if that’s not enought the disks I bought to copy the data to were broken as well. What can I say… I’m f*cked.

Anyway, I probably won’t be posting any new stuff untill I sort this out. Wish me luck.

First anniversary

Well… one year has pased since I’ve published my first tutorial and I havent even noticed, but I’m sure you’ve noticed that I havent beed posting new tutorials lately. That’s because I’ve been very sick, and I had a lot of things to do. Book pages in 3D

My studio is currently working on a TV commercial for one of our clients. The concept is great but putting it all together is quite a challenge. The main theme in this ad are floating book pages that display images and videos on their spines. Although I figured out a way to create non-flat 3D pages in After Effects and a clever way to animate them, we didn’t go with that because it took forever to render. On the other hand creating the animation in a 3D application lacks the flexibility that allows to change the pace of motion and the videos displayed on the spines. Since I don’t like our own creations taking control over us and limiting our creativity we had to find the mid-ground to this problem. (more…)
