Hello my friends. I’ve got bad news. Today my disk array crashed, over 2TB of data lost. I’m fighting to restore as much as I can, but It doesn’t look god. And if that’s not enought the disks I bought to copy the data to were broken as well. What can I say… I’m f*cked.

Anyway, I probably won’t be posting any new stuff untill I sort this out. Wish me luck.

Well… one year has pased since I’ve published my first tutorial and I havent even noticed, but I’m sure you’ve noticed that I havent beed posting new tutorials lately. That’s because I’ve been very sick, and I had a lot of things to do. I got tons of emails which I really like to read and respond to, but the depressing thing was that all of the emails followed similar pattern

My studio is currently working on a TV commercial for one of our clients. The concept is great but putting it all together is quite a challenge. The main theme in this ad are floating book pages that display images and videos on their spines. Although I figured out a way to create non-flat 3D pages in After Effects and a clever way to animate them, we didn’t go with that because it took forever to render. On the other hand creating the animation in a 3D application lacks the flexibility that allows to change the pace of motion and the videos displayed on the spines. Since I don’t like our own creations taking control over us and limiting our creativity we had to find the mid-ground to this problem.

Three years ago me and my friend started to work on our very own, low cost, high quality motion capture application. Our goal was to create easy to use scalable application, that would take a video sequence, analyze it, and export a BVH motion capture file than can then be used in many 3D applications for character animation. Reason? We simply needed it for one of our projects.

I just got my hands on brand new release of Adobe AIR. I just love it. At the beginning AS3 was a bit scary for me. Many things have changed and I was avoiding doing anything in AS3, because my coding history in Flash goes back to Flash 4, so I have strong old habits. But then along came Adobe AIR and everything changed.

Just wanted to say that I finally switched servers and this site now runs from ToolFarm server. It was all possible thanks to Michele Yamazaki (VP Marketing & Web Development Czarina at Toolfarm) who was kind enough to host my video files for you to watch and learn from.

Everything is running smoothly. Thanks Michele!

Please not that moving sites between servers is very complicated so temporary problems in viewing tutorials and downloading files may occur. Hopefully not for long.

Most of you know that on 5th of October 2007 I had to shut this website down due to bandwidth over usage and I had to pay a huge hosting bill. I wanted to thank all of you who generously donated some money to help me pay my bill and get this site back online.
